More than seven decades after the Holocaust, genocide and other mass atrocities remain a constant threat to global peace and security. Today’s violence in Syria, Sudan, Yemen, Burma, and elsewhere around the world is a daily reminder of the staggering consequences of the international community’s failure to act. In response, the Auschwitz Institute has dedicated itself to the construction of a world that prevents genocide and other mass atrocities.
Beginning in 2020, the Auschwitz Institute for Peace and Reconciliation will adopt our new name and will begin operating as the Auschwitz Institute for the Prevention of Genocide and Mass Atrocities. While part of our name will be changing, none of our work will.
Under this new name, the Auschwitz Institute will remain committed to the same mission, vision, and programming in pursuit of a world that prevents genocide and other mass atrocities. In fact, we have embarked on this name change process so that our name will better reflect the nature and scope of our work.
The Auschwitz Institute’s visual identity will begin changing to accommodate the new name in January, however our contact information and other communications details will remain exactly the same. For example, our website and staff emails will continue to use the auschwitzinstitute.org domain and our social media handles will remain as they are currently.
